Remark :
After checking out the Hochak Video for Deepavali Special, we decided to give a shot on Maroon Kafe. Before we went to the restaurant, we thought it is a normal mamak stall type of restaurants. Upon reaching the restaurant, we were surprised that it has such a nice and confortable environment. It is definately a fine dining Indian food restaurant. You have the option to sit inside the restaurant or the outside tables where there are a big projector screen for watching Live Soccer matches with no air condition due to smoking is permitted here.
So myself and Cindy decided to sit inside the restaurant. We had a difficulty of what to eat in there because there are too many to choose from. There are more than 100 items to choose from. So we fix our mind and go for pure Indian food as per our initial plan. There are 16 varieties of set meals with free refillable drink and scoop of ice cream if you want to order it fast. Both of us endup going for Ala-Carte and ordered garlic naan, kashmiri naan, north indian prata, murg makkan wala and aloo gobi masala.
All their naans are fantastic especially the garlic naan which is the most basic and you can taste the skills of their chef from this. It is very soft when eaten hot. The kashmiri naan is nice to be eaten straight without any curry. It is made with cherries and sesame seeds that gave a lots of fragrance and taste. You can even take away and eat it as breakfast in the morning. It taste like a cookie when the naan is cooled off. The north indian prata is another good one which is another different type of “roti canai”.
For the curry we ordered “Murg Makkan Wala” which is a tandoori chicken meat cooked with a nice red gravy and butter. Don’t judge by the small portion. It is very very thick and you better come with a big appetite for this. For vege, we ordered a “Aloo Gobi Masala” which is a mildly spiced cauliflower and potatoes.

Comment/Remark :
When you approach the restaurant, you can feel that there are very strong business rivalry here between the Sri Paandis restaurant. Next to it on the left and right is Restoran Sri Paandi (PJ) which operate by the original former partner of Sri Paandi Brickfield. Each of their workers try hard to persuade you to eat in their restaurant.
The food here is a bit more simple compared to next door’s. The side lines is not as much as them but the taste definately better. The papadums served are fresh fried from the kitchen and you can still feel the heat. Curry wise is more diluted. But the taste is just nice. Service also is better due to their customer is not much. The shop owner or person in charge if never see you in their restaurant before, he will give you a bit of their chicken rendang or mutton rendang to try out on the house.
