Sorry for the lack of updates recently. I have been really tied up with my day time job building websites and email hosting for people. Last week, I flew back to Penang to attend the 4th annual Food Blogger Gathering organized by fellow blogger Alan Choong and Allie. The 1st gathering was attended by mere less than 10 persons. Then the second one was 25 at Edelweiss Swiss Restaurant follow by the third one around 30 for pot luck style gathering.
This round it was held at Vintage Bulgaria Restaurant at Tanjung Bungah.

I think this restaurant would be the first Bulgarian Restaurant in Malaysia if not mistaken. Bulgarian food were almost similar to German where they serve pork trotter as main course. The restaurant comes in 3 level sittings. The lower part is the part you see upon step in.

For this event, the management reserve the whole 3rd floor just for the gathering. They also print a banner for us to mark our event.

Decorations on the cupboard
On the gathering night, due to overwhelming respond asking for the menu which served to us blogger, the owner decided to make it standardize for that night menu. What we have is what the walk in customer going to eat.
The menu were tailored for this event and readers get to enjoy what we had that night. When I reach the restaurant, it was full house! There are beef, chicken, fish and porks in the menu. All were my favorites. I opt for something which more authentic Bulgarian home style which is their Bulgarian Platter which comes with mixed grill trio kebapche, kyofte and karnatche (Traditional Recipe Home Made Bulgarian Sausages and pork fillet).
Before I show you the main course part, I am going to show you our soup for a start.

Mushroom soup served with Vintage Garlic Bread
I arrive a bit late due to the traffic jam. When I arrive, I place an order for this soup but I guess the waiter forgotten about it. So I can’t comment about this dish.

Bulgarian Pork Djolan (Traditional Roasted Pork Knuckle)
This is a must order for pork lovers. Unlike German and Chinese style where they deep fry the pork knuckle, Bulgarian roast it. It is roasted until look like char siew. The skins were crunchy and the meat are succulent. I get to try this because CK pass me some as she can’t finish it. Thanks CK! The meat is good on its own without the side BBQ sauce that came with it.

Bulgarian Platter (mixed grill trio kebapche, kyofte and karnatche. Traditional Recipe Home Made Bulgarian Sausages and pork fillet)
The meat patty taste almost like our ordinary Ramly burger patty but with more juice inside. The sausage too taste very home made. Unlike the normal sausages the meats were not totally mashed and you still can the meat bits. They didn’t blend it too fine and hence the texture still remains.

Plovdiv Ribs (Tasty pork ribs grilled till tender)
I didn’t get to taste this one as no one on my table that order this dish. Mostly went for the pork knuckle and the platter. If you wanna know how it taste, checkout Cariso’s food post on the same event.

We were introduced to 2 of their house famous dessert which chocolate lover couldn’t resist. The first one is the Chocolate Brulee. Eggs with Chocolate and caramelized sugar on top …… Yummy!

Next were the most ordered that night which is the chocolate soup. Imagine a big glass of hot milo dinosaur with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on it. It drive me nuts just by thinking of it. I wish I can try on the event but I was a bit out of appetite due to the travel and session in Penang.

Beside cakes, we get to taste some fresh made Gelato courtesy by Gelatisimo. I previously tried them when they first open their outlet at The Gardens Midvalley.
All the gelato were fat free and very healthy since they are purely made of fresh fruits. I can lick the whole tub alone if you put me in front of TV with it.
