Kafe Wahong – Kampung Jawa Famous Char Koey Teow
July 3, 2009 by email2me · 33 Comments | [1,091 views]
Early last month, I was having business trip back to Penang. I was craving for Char Koey Teow (CKT) for my breakfast on that morning. I was thinking where to find a good plate of CKT early in the morning where all the super famous CKT still not yet open for business. Ah Leng Char Koey Teow only opens at 9am. That time was still 7am. Hmmm …… Scratching my head to figure out …. suddenly Kafe Wahong bumped into my mind.

This coffee shop have nothing in special but since my early days where I was still in secondary school, they already famous for its CKT among FTZ workers.

Affordable priced CKT ranging from RM2 to RM6

This stall is there for more than 20 years and they still keep the way they fry the koey teow. Plate by plate.

Perfect proportion for a plate of char koey teow. Too many is not nice …. too little customer will not return

This stall’s signature way of serving the char koey teow at the edge of a plate

RM3 per plate come with 2 big prawns

Any reason why it is placed on the side of the plate? Looks good though, wish it wasn’t so damn far though.

The reason he put it that way is to enable the waiter to be able to take multiple plates and serve it to tables. Like per trip that fella walk, he can take up to 6 plates on 2 hands.

It was oil. Frying a plate of CKT has lots of oil flying around.
ah…. never try this shop. I always go to the other end where Allie mention. Will drop by and try soon. ^-^

I think the hokkien mee that you mention was located on the other end’s kopitiam
I used to see FTZ ppl flocking there at this kopitiam but I’ve never tried the CKT before.

I am guilty =.=|| I haven’t touch the CKT when taking the pix. A pinch or 2 only. Not 1/2 plate.
Huh, why served at the edge of the plate? So weird lah!!
