Restoran Loke Yun Ampang Chicken Rice – Best Poach Chicken Rice in Klang Valley

A few months back, my colleague (whole bunch of Food POI members) all of sudden get chicken rice frenzy. I guess they probably sick of looking at pork already when I drag them to have bak kut teh weekly over the weekend to pick the best out in Klang. Somehow the result still undetermined yet.

So we went and dig the best chicken rice in Klang Valley. First we had Chong Yien’s located at Section 17 just right opposite 6 to 10 Grill and behind My Elephant Thai Restaurant. This one very famous for its roast chicken, ch and roast pork. Sold out mostly at 1.30pm max! Rice wise, so so. Chai Boey, damn good! Price wise, the most expensive chicken rice in PJ on the hawker chicken rice category. Poach chicken not available here.

Next one is the 2007 Hainanese Chicken Rice Champ at Dataran Sunway, Kota Damansara. Restoran Tasty Chicken Rice which for their roasted chicken and braised chicken feet. Chicken is good but rice quality is inconsistent. The chicken alone were marinated with some spices and then send to roast. The roast chicken sold out very fast. Usually finish within 2 hours time. Poach chicken wise, I never try it before as the chicken rice competition picture never show they are good in that!

Come to poach chicken, it is pretty hard to find a good ones in Klang Valley and PJ. My coleaque being a chicken rice pot (one day no eat chicken rice cannot sleep), he recommend me to have our lunch in Ampang. When he mention Ampang, automatically Yong Tau Fu came in mind. He said NO! NO! NO! ….. we go Ampang eat chicken rice. I am pretty doubtful when he said this so we went and give it a try.

Loke Yun Ampang Chicken Rice Shop

The very striking orange sign board with a line “More than 50 years of secret recipe”

It is a hell to find parking here. Usually people will double park or go one big round and turn into their back alley for parking and enter from back door.
