Cupcakes and Red Velvet Cake by A Taste Boutique Cakes & Bistro

Year 2008, the year where donuts frenzy invaded the market when J.CO Donuts and Big Apple Donuts were competing each other for their market share. The que were so long till it makes a big trend in the market where make all the people who pass by curious about it.

Now the trend has slightly changed. Cupcakes is slowly pick up its pace with more and more players came in to the picture.  A cupcake or fairy cake, is a small cake designed to serve one person, frequently baked in a small, thin paper cup. Compared with larger cakes, frosting and other cake decorations, such as sprinkles, are common on cupcakes.I am honored to be invited for a cupcake decoration session and tasting on red velvet cakes which is pretty rare in Malaysia. The latest cupcake bakery that come in to the market is A Taste Boutique …. YES! You heard it right. The shop name is called A Taste Boutique …

Cupcakes

Cupcakes are getting more popular to replace occasion cakes. It looks much pretty and easy to serve to the guest. You can write what ever you want on the cup cakes. Let us see the baking of cupcakes.

All the cupcake muffins were baked with variety of flavors ranging from raisins, chocs and vanilla. Here, they emphasize a lot on the overall balance of the whole piece of cupcakes. The muffins need to be taste good and not too sweet so that the icing can merge in nicely.

At the price of RM2.50 allows you to choose the flavor of the cakes rather than just the topping like some others. The flavors that they carries is like orange, vanilla, chocolate fudge, cookies & cream, chocolate chip, well so on so forth, its not just a name, its the actual ingredient itself. You also can choose between “Fondant & Butter Cream frosting” for the cupcakes design/decor whenever you wish to order.

With that kind of combination, no more “oh the same flavor kinda cupcakes again” .. which most of the bakery practice the same cupcake that come with a different flavor frosting. They don’t use normal fresh cream or those plain icing which is pretty boring ….. For the meantime, they are trying out to bake the cupcakes by using butter cakes too.

OK now that we have seen enough of all those delicious and lovely looking cupcakes, it is time for the taste part.

This is the best carrot wall nut cake I ever had in cupcake version – Rating 4/5 at RM2.50

Make sure you serve it slightly warm. It will bring out the rich taste of the walnut and taste better.

Pictured above is their signature, the Velvet Cake, with the drool+mention-worthy smoothest cream cheese layers ever, unlike the gummy or sugary plaster, thick sticky type commonly encountered.

Served slightly warm, the taste was somewhat complex, for it was my virginal experience with the red velvet. The moist, velvety-red sponge layers was rich, and slightly dense in composition, with very strong buttery aroma. The layers were in harmony with the alluringly rich fluff of soft cream-cheese, made from imported cheese and mixed in-house. Mr Filen, the Manager proudly pro-claimed that they have the best cream cheese frosting, of which moi here sees no reason to dispute.

With all those sweet stuffs, it is perfect to flush everything down with a good cup of Segafredo Espresso which they brew fresh for you from the coffee maker.

Something extra for some who would like to give their friend a surprise on their birthday. You can customize your cake base on what you can illustrate out to them. They will bake it for you at a reasonable price.
