Mee goreng ….. a direct translation to english would be fried mee. On the basic idea we would just think that throw the mee into the frying pan and fried it. It is not as simple as that. In Penang, “Mee Goreng” is rather popular among locals. It is due to the way of those Indian Muslims fry it in a different way which involve combination of a few sauces and ingredients. In KL, it has a different name which called Mee Goreng Mamak. But the taste is totally out!. It never taste the same as most of them use gas to fry it.
The shop which I visit the most is Hussain Mee Goreng and Mee Rebus. Hussain have been operating the stalls for more than 20 years. He can speak a very fluent hokkien!
This stall is located right after the turn to the right into Jelutong Wet Market.
When you reaching , you can see a guy there frying non stop and many customers patiently standing a side waiting for their mee.
All the mee were charcoal fried ! The taste you fried by using gas taste not as good.
Imagine the red hot frying pan so so hot and yet Hussain use his hand to hold the frying pan. You can totally ignore the the hygienic part of this food. But who cares when it come to a good plate of mee goreng.
