From the PART 1 of the Project Trafford, we have introduced and brief you all what is Project Trafford all about from Nuffnang and Mister Potato.

I did mention in my earlier Project Trafford introduction page where Mister Potato sending 30 persons to Old Trafford for a stadium tour for FREE!

For god sake and I am repeating my statement again …..

Come back to Nuffnang’s Project Trafford, we were required to write 2 post for this project. The second post requires us to come up a game plan where we will work as a team to win the competition and grabs all those tickets for ourselves.

We have quite a hectic schedule to plan this up as a team but we manage to do it via our own internal forum which I setup to help gather everybody’s input. All the discussions were then properly sorted and laid out before submitting the post for review. We are having difficulties to judge which idea is the best to go for as all of them were good proposals.

We finally made up our mind and chose our leader’s idea to organize a “Mister Potato Flash Mob KLCC 2008” as the theme. Despite the hectic working schedule she had in the day time, she still manages to contribute such a brilliant idea.

What is a “Flash Mob”?

The first recorded use of the term flash mob was in 2003 in a blog entry posted in the aftermath of Wasik’s event. The term was inspired by the earlier term smart mob.

Webster’s New Millennium Dictionary of English defines flash mob as “a group of people who organize on the Internet and then quickly assemble in a public place, do something bizarre, and disperse.” This definition is consistent with the original use of the term; however, both news media and promoters have subsequently used the term to refer to any form of smart mob, including political protests; a collaborative Internet denial of service attack; a collaborative supercomputing demonstration; and promotional appearances by a pop musician. The press has also used the term flash mob to refer a practice being used in China where groups of shoppers arrange online to meet at a store at the same time in order to drive a collective bargain with the store owner.

From the idea above, recently Malaysian bloggers did organize a KL FREEZE which they just freeze themselves without any speech, age, colour, sex, beliefs and background for 5 minutes on a designated time.

Creating The Awareness For Our Game Plan

On our project we will be organizing “Mister Potato Flash Mob KLCC 2008” which everyone will be holding a can of Mister Potato Crisps and chomping the chips at the designated time in various ways within 10 minutes time for the event.

They can chomp their chips while sleeping, sitting, standing, dancing (hip hop way or break dance) and do whatever they can think of with their Mister Potato Crisps.

To promote this event, we are publishing all the details into a special blog, FACEBOOK, MSN, blogger.com and so on with our specially designed poster/banner/leaf let.

A poll also created on what kind of action they will do while munching on the Mister Potato crisps.

The Flash Mob Day

For them to participate in this event, they must be at the location 1 hour before the designated time and register with us by giving us the seal of the LIMITED EDITION 165gram can pack as show below. Do take note that the special edition cans come with a red seal rather than black. This seal will be used to register for the attendance and head count at the end of the event.

The participants will be designated on specific spot for their similar group activities base on what they have vote for in the poll which will be informed by the crew during registration. Ie. Break Dancing, posing for old dance style, cam whoring section and so on.

Our team role onsite would be :
Event Coordinator and Team Leader: Joyce (Media and Celebs)
Assistant Coordinator and host: Ken (E-flyers, facebook)
Registration and Seal collectors: Wallace, Darren and Chze Hong
Head count: Sharon

Dress Code be white colour for participants and solid red for the crew.

Local celebrities will also be invited as crowd pullers. When people start to gather around the celebrities, it will grab media attention.

Timing is very crucial in Flash Mob. So therefore they will need to match their clock/time/watch before leaving for the event. Make sure every hour : minutes : second are the same as the clock below.

The Kick Off Moment For Flash Mob

15 minutes before the time reaches, everyone will start to gather base on their activity group. They will stand around the designated area and not too close so that it won’t grab that much attention before the event starts.

WHEN THE DESIGNATED TIME REACHES, ALL PARTICIPANTS WILL POP OPEN THEIR MISTER POTATO CRISPS AND LIFT UP THEIR RIGHT HAND HOLDING THE CAN OF MISTER POTATO CRISPS FOR 2 MINUTES BEFORE START CHOMPING THEIR CRISPS.

They will then starts perform their actions base on what they have voted in the forum.

10 minutes after that everyone will disperse.

With this way I guess we can easily secure hundreds or more seals per event. If not enough can visit other major cities to do gather more seals before the contest end and hence our team will have a bigger chance towards our Manchester Stadium Tour dream.
