Out of so many bak kut teh stalls I have taste in Jalan Ipoh, this is the last stall which started from Batu 4 towards city Chow Kit area. The reason why I like this stall is that they are following the traditional style of cooking the bak kut teh soup. Traditional way of cooking Bak Kut Teh suppose to be the herbs cook together with pork ribs only. The rest of the shop is cooking it with mushrooms, cabbage, bean curds and so on.

The best selling dish in this shop is their soya sauce stew pork. Go early as this dish mostly sold out around 10pm. For appetizer you should order the TAU POK which cooked with the bak kut teh soup and garlic. It is very soft and tasty as a starter. For spare part lovers, you can order the pig spare parts cooked with chinese liquor and ginger. The rice also is pretty special and not just serving white rice. The rice is mixed with red onion oil and a bit of crushed fry red onion.

Of all the bak kut teh in KL and Klang Valley, this Jln Ioh shop next to Ambank, serves the most original bal kut teh without the dilution of tastes from bean curd, parsly, spring onions etc. No clay pot either, served in small bowls for each choice of pork dish. i fully agree with Food Poi writer’s comments. i have been visiting this outlet before they the brothers opened their outlet in a shophouse; those days it was along the verandah of a corner shop and the parking bays next to it; it was so good then, it is still so good now. That’s how consistent their quality is!! For those who like true bak kut teh, the way it should be Son In Bak Kut Teh is highly recommended.
